A journey is a distance. A grande remise is a promise kept — quietly, from the first door held to the last.
Overture
We do not move people from one place to another. We carry them, unhurried and unremarked, through the small architecture of their day.
There is a word in French that predates the automobile, older than the roads we now travel. La grande remise. It named the coach houses where the finest carriages waited — never hailed in the street, always reserved in advance, always ready. It named a manner of service before it named a profession: the difference between being taken somewhere and being accompanied.
FFGR exists to keep that difference alive. Not as nostalgia, but as a standard. In an age that measures travel in minutes saved, we chose to measure it in something older and harder — the composure of the person who arrives, and the silence of everything that made it possible.
This page is our manifesto. It says, plainly, what we believe a chauffeured journey should be, and why we hold the line where others have let it fall.
A French lineage
The grande remise is a French invention, refined over three centuries. From the reserved carriages of the Ancien Régime to the licensed prestige vehicles of the twentieth century, one principle never changed: the finest transport is not summoned in the street. It is arranged in advance, for the duration of an engagement, by a house that answers for it.
The legal category as such no longer exists — the profession was folded into a broader statute in 2009. But the standard outlived the licence. What was once guaranteed by a prefectoral card is now guaranteed by the discipline a house imposes on itself: the chauffeur, the vehicle, the protocol, the discretion. FFGR carries that inheritance forward, from Paris to the wider world.

What we believe
Four convictions hold beneath every journey we arrange. They are not services on a list. They are the reason the list looks the way it does.
Discretion
The finest service leaves no trace but the memory of its ease. Names are not repeated, itineraries are not shared, and what is seen inside the car stays inside the car — by agreement, not merely by courtesy. Confidentiality is the first luxury, and the one most rarely kept.
Anticipation
To be looked after is to never have to ask. The water already cool, the route already studied, the second option already prepared before the first is disturbed. Anticipation is the quiet labour that happens before you arrive and after you have gone — the work you are meant never to notice.
Invisible service
A grande remise is present without being felt. The door opens at the right moment; the silence is kept when silence is wanted; the conversation is met when it is offered. Presence, not performance. The measure of the service is how little of it you had to think about.
One standard, everywhere
A house is only as good as its least-known city. Whether the car waits in a capital or on a coast, the manner is the same — the same selection of chauffeurs, the same code of conduct, the same answer to the same expectation. A single standard, held across a worldwide network, is harder than excellence in one place. It is what a federation is for.

A driver takes you where you ask. A grande remise chauffeur takes responsibility for the journey. The distance between the two is a matter of training, of bearing, and of protocol — not of the car.
Formation
Beyond the licence and the road: defensive and considered driving, route intelligence, the calm reading of a situation before it becomes one. Many of our chauffeurs are trained to protective standards, so that safety is never an afterthought and never a spectacle. Competence is assumed; it is the floor, not the achievement.
Savoir-être
The bearing of someone who belongs in the room without needing to be seen in it. Discretion in speech, precision in gesture, an instinct for the register a moment asks for — warmth or silence, a word or none. This is the part that cannot be hired cheaply and cannot be faked, and it is the part clients remember.
Protocol
The choreography that makes ease look effortless: the side the door is opened from, the pace set to the principal and not to the clock, the luggage handled before it is thought of, the arrival timed so that nothing is ever rushed and nothing is ever late. Protocol is anticipation made into habit — repeated until it disappears.

FFGR is a federation — delegations and Maisons across Europe and beyond, more than forty destinations bound by one charter and one manner. You reserve with one house and are received the same way in every city it reaches: the same standard, whether the door opens onto a boulevard or a harbour. A network is not a list of places. It is a promise that the place will not change the promise.

A few honest answers
Is grande remise just a luxury taxi?
No. A taxi is hailed in the street and priced by meter, ride by ride. A grande remise is reserved in advance and engaged for a mission — a chauffeur and a vehicle dedicated to you for its duration, with protocol and discretion the ride never includes. Does FFGR operate everywhere the same way?
That is the point of a federation. Across every delegation and Maison in the network, the same selection of chauffeurs, the same charter and the same manner of service apply. The city changes; the standard does not.
